Landlord - Tenant questions - verbal 30 day notice legal in CA?

You dont have any rights. If you can afford to rent a room how can you afford an attorney? They don't owe you any money anyhow. If the husband still owns the house you have to comply with him. He can evict you because you did not pay rent and you did not vacate the premises. Renting a room inside someone's home is not subject to all the same laws as renting a separate apartment. They have no obligation to give you moving expenses. I am not sure it owner must give you a written notice or verbal is OK. If you have no hot water and you know the place is being sold, why don't you leave? Why do you waste the police valuable time in a civil matter? You could have called Legal Aid for advice. Owner already gave you a 3-day notice to Quit and he can get the sheriff to physically evict you Monday.
